Calling all social media wizards!

UN Women has warned that the pandemic will push 47 million more women and girls below the poverty line, reversing decades of progress to eradicate extreme poverty. MicroLoan Foundation, the microfinance arm of WildHearts Foundation, has recently launched their EmpowerHer appeal to help 50,000 women build brighter futures before the end of 2020.

MicroLoan will help vulnerable women in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe kickstart their journey out of poverty by providing loans and business training, enabling them to create their own income generating activities.

When a woman starts a business, it is not just her life that begins to change. On average a woman in Malawi looks after four children as well as other family members. The profits from her business will allow her to secure the basic needs for her family such as education, nutrition and healthcare. The free training provided gives her the skills she needs to develop a successful business, empowering her as an entrepreneur and creating jobs for others in her community.

There’s a whole heap of ways to get involved with EmpowerHer and help spread the word. Find out more here. MicroLoan are on the lookout for social media volunteers to share posts and encourage their network to engage with the issues vulnerable communities are currently facing.

As it’s all online, you can support our campaign on your commute, on your lunchbreak or from the comfort of your own sofa! All you need is a computer, laptop or mobile and internet access. We expect it will take around twenty minutes every two weeks to read through the content, personalise it, share and post online.
