WildHearts Transform Over One Million Lives

In 2017 I set an ambitious goal; WildHearts would transform one million lives by the end of 2020. Earlier this year, on March 26th we achieved that goal. One year and nine months ahead of schedule.

This milestone has been achieved because of our customers who share WildHearts values. They made it possible. Because of them, we have been able to achieve our ambitions faster than I could have imagined.  Not only has our impact grown exponentially but WildHearts is now cited as a leading, global B2B social business, we are a registered B Corps, a signatory to the Global Compact and our work addresses over 50% of the UN’s Global Goals.

We have come a long way together.

When I created WildHearts I was driven by the idea that business can and must be a force for good. Business has the talent, the resources and the networks. How could we harness the vast sums of money that businesses spend every day and channel it to create positive impact? That was the idea, but like any business you must make it easy for your customers to say yes.

My solution was WildHearts Office, designed to enable companies to buy their business supplies with the profits used to empower people globally.

I was not alone.

I discovered that many business leaders feel the same way. They want their work to contribute more, to mean more, they want to make a difference while they make a living.

We started winning customers. Soon WildHearts was able to expand into furniture, print, and all the ‘non-emotional’ purchases a business needs. From there I launched Micro-Tyco, our Values-Driven Entrepreneurial training programme and as WildHearts continued to grow, we launched WildHearts Horizon our full document management service.

Each WildHearts company addresses different business needs however they are all driven by the same purpose; the Empowerment of the individual. How do we do this?

We empower young people to fulfil their potential regardless of their background. Micro-Tyco is now the largest ‘Values-Driven Entrepreneurial Training Programme’ in the world. WildHearts has delivered it free of charge to over 45,000 young people across 25 countries.

WildHearts empowers poor women to start their own businesses. Our Foundation is now a leading provider of microfinance for poor female micro-entrepreneurs in Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe and we support financial inclusion for the poor from Haiti to India.

We empower girls to stay in school during their periods. We are the largest producer and distributor of free usable sanitary pads for vulnerable girls in South Africa and neighbouring countries.

And we are just getting started.

Last November at the United Nations in Geneva we launched the WildHearts Global Youth Ambassador programme. Our goal is to inspire future generations of business leaders who see business excellence and delivering positive social impact as synonymous. We are inspiring the leaders our world deserves.

All of this is a direct result of people like you; WildHearts customers, supporters, and Micro-Tycos who believe that business can be a force for good. Together we made it happen.

Let me end on a personal note. Been given the chance to create WildHearts is an honour I live daily. The friendships I have made, the experiences I have had, and the impact I have contributed to have taught me the true meaning of wealth. I know from personal experience that by helping to transform the lives of others, you also transform your own.

Thank you.
